We are super excited to announce that Jill Trigg will be spending some time coaching rowing classes at CFNV. Jill is an exceptional athlete, with a ton of experience and we are very excited for her to share her expertise with all of our members. She will be around the gym all day on Wednesday the 27th, coaching a special rowing WOD and you will see her more often as we head into the new year. Read on for a quick bio.
Jill started rowing with Deep Cove Rowing Club (DCRC) in grade 8 and moved on to rowing at Burnaby Lake Rowing Club (BLRC) in grade 10. She participated in the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta, one of the most prestigious regattas in North America, on several occasions winning 8 gold medals in the junior A and B categories in singles, doubles and quads. Jill was awarded the top female sculler (rower) award by Rowing Canada in her grade 11 year. She was a member of both the provincial and junior national development teams, winning a gold medal in Mexico while setting a course record time with her crew. Jill was also awarded several awards for setting the fastest 2000m and 6000m ergometer time in her age group for all of Canada. Choosing from over 20 offers of full ride rowing scholarships, Jill chose to attend the University of Virginia.
Jill started coaching for DCRC at age 16. Since returning to North Vancouver, Jill has been coaching the Youth Rowing program at DCRC. She also occasionally coaches the Adult Recreational and Adult Masters programs. Jill started an indoor rowing program at Deep Cove rowing club and runs indoor rowing classes for club members. She also coaches private 1:1 coaching sessions with clients who are just starting on the ergometer, who prefer following a specific/personalized program, or who have specific goals. Additionally Jill currently coaches at Gravity Laboratory gym as an indoor rowing coach. Jill is also a Registered Nutritional Consulting Practitioner and runs her own nutrition consultation business in North Vancouver. She currently also competes on an Elite women’s cycling team, Fluevog’s Crit Nasty, and competes throughout the spring and summer seasons.
