We can thank Google for bringing Stevan into the CFNV community. An internet search for Crossfit in North Vancouver was his first connection. “I was turning 30 that December, and wanted to get into shape before the big day. I had heard about Crossfit before from a friend that lived downtown. He loved it, and it was always in the back of my mind that I wanted to eventually try it. I was lucky that CFNV came up first on my Google search.”
Finding a way back into his jeans was an initial goal for Stevan. “When I started my goals were just to lose some weight and get back into my 34/34 jeans. I never imagined myself becoming a long term member – but the WOD’s were always challenging, I was seeing results in many ways, and the CFNV community is amazing.”
A lot has changed in the 4 years that he has been training. “I now keep track of all my WODs, my PR times / weights. I’m less worried about a “number on my weigh scale”, and more motivated by speed, strength, flexibility, and overall fitness results I see by being consistent with CF. I’m happier. I have more endurance; I’m faster, stronger, more flexible. I notice these changes in day-to-day life – even when playing with my nieces and nephews and doing daily household chores. I sleep better at night, and find myself making better meal choices than I did before.”
Stevan has been gracing us with his big smile for years now. You know what they say, “time flies when you are having fun”, and Stevan genuinely has fun with his classmates. Keep smiling, keep working Stev!
