The King and Queen Summer Competition has come and gone but the memories of a great day will last for a long time. On Saturday, August 24 at William Griffin field 23 teams took on 5 different challenges as they fought for the crowns.
From running with glasses filled with water to tossing heavy sandbags, it was a mixup of exercises and skills. Some hated the inclusion of handstand walks while others took off upside down in delight. Through it all we all smiled and laughed and cheered each other on. This was the fourth King and Queen competition and like the previous ones it was based on being accessible to all our members, a mix of unusual challenges and a fun event.
The location worked out really well and all the workouts ran smoothly and on schedule. In the end Jian and Carla were crowned King and Queen. The event is for CFNV members but we do invite teams from other gyms. From those teams another set of crowns are presented, and they are given the title of Prince and Princess. This year John and Heather from Crossfit Lions wore those crowns.
A big thank you goes out to Karlo and Carol for keeping track of all the scores, Dave and Roe for helping me with the equipment and food. And thanks to all the people who came out and participated. All the money raised goes towards entry fees for athletes from our gym who represent us in competitions.
Stayed tuned for the next one.
