Below is a summary of the cycle we have just started provided by Coach Beast:
The next eight weeks our focus for the strength/skill portion of the class will be on improving an athlete’s clean and jerk and working on various gymnastic holds. Although these two areas are on opposite ends of the movement spectrum, they both demand a high level of coordination and strength; and have a broad carryover to the more basic functional movements. For the conditioning portion of the class the majority of workouts will be structured around shorter duration/maximal intensity. Many of these workouts will include KB work in some capacity to build upon the past eight week’s skill work. An athlete should hope to achieve a greater confidence with the C&J, progress towards a front/back lever, and the conditioning to excel in workouts requiring maximal strength/power.
