I began CrossFit in February of 2007.
I started CrossFit as a tool to train for football.
Before CrossFit other than the sports I played (football, rugby, basketball) I ran a lot, did some smith machine squats and other typical gym exercises.
Outside of CrossFit I am addicted to learning, football and food. But mostly food.
I began coaching CrossFit in October 2008.
Two favourite things about CrossFit: it never stops humbling you, and the people are incredible.
Favourite WOD is a toss up between “Karen”, “Grace” and “Fran”, I’m a sprinter by trade and quad pain doesn’t bother me.
There is no better feeling than helping people realize their potential on a day to day basis.
My favourite CrossFit moment would be watching Team Taranis stand on the podium and receive their bronze medals at the 2011 Reebok CrossFit Games – bursting with pride.
My worst CrossFit moment was knowing I had just fractured my wrist mid clean.
I compete here and there.
My favourite competition was competing on Team Taranis in the 2010 CrossFit Games in front of a couple thousand fans.
CrossFit goals for 2013 include a 400lb squat, complete a 1/2 marathon, and go under 2:00 min on both “Fran” and “Grace”.
Favourite CrossFit quote: “what am I gonna do with all this fitness?” -Chris Spealler
CrossFit doesn’t cause injuries, neglectful coaching and the sheer stupidity of the client are what lead to injuries. Check your ego and find yourself a real coach, not a cheerleader, if really you want to see gains in your fitness level.
