Congrats to everyone who finished their challenge yesterday!! I have seen a lot of changes in you guys both esthetically and in your performance at the gym. People are expressing better sleep, mood, recovery, performance, skin, energy levels, weight loss, and just a general sense of feeling better all around. Now, before you go out and eat a large pizza and chase it with a 4L of chocolate milk, read on.
You have just completed a challenge where you eliminate foods which are know irritants to your body. The 30 days is, in essence, a detox of these foods. Be very careful as you re-introduce the foods. A couple things to think about. One, re introduce foods one at a time so you know how your body reacts. Using pizza as an example. If you eat 6 slices of pizza you have no idea how it affected your body. You feel like crap and hung over, but, was it the cheese? was it the salt? was it the gluten in the crust? was it the pop you had with it? I suggest introducing small amounts of foods you like back into your diet and seeing how they affect you. Sometimes you will be able to tolerate dairy or some dairy. (ie. milk bad/cheese ok) Two, after you have detoxed, you have cleansed the system and it will now be potentially more sensitive to these irritants. Be careful how much you have in one sitting! Equate this to drinking alcohol. If you haven’t had a drink in a month you will probably get half snapped off 2 drinks and be really hung over. Start small! Please!!
Lastly, if you feel great, why change anything? Re-evaluate things and try to make a switch to quality foods. Use what you have learned in your paleo challenge and continue to make the gains you have had!
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF YOU!!
Please submit your food journals etc. by the end of November and we can get prizes out in December!
