The Canada West Regionals wrapped up this weekend and by all accounts in was a huge success. The weekend started out rough with the Rogue Equipment Truck being highjacked (literally) and instead of arriving at 9am it arrived at 7:30pm. The 20 volunteers who were there at 9am were gone and it was left up to the organizing committee and a few volunteers to setup the venue. The show must go on and everything was set and ready to go at about 1:30am. The next day started with the first team heats and onto the first women’s heat where everything went well. Women’s heat number two started and the ladies took a wrong turn on the run course which lead to the ladies having to do a small WOD at the end of the day to even out the playing field. Nothing changed, the standings were the same, but, we all felt horrible for the ladies.
Saturday and Sunday were as good as it gets. There were PR’s being hit, athletes chasing from behind making come backs, and much much more. The Open proved to be a great testing ground as not much changed in the standings. Check out the games website for the FINAL STANDINGS.
Check out the Regional Update Here:
Our CrossFit North Vancouver athletes competed hard and improved on their Open finishes which was the ultimate goal. Corey aka Popeye was very impressive over the first two days and got himself into the top 30! The team consisting of KD, Mighty Mouse, Shocker, Big Deal, Thirteen, and Rainman won the first heat of the day and placed well in that WOD overall (9). They also had a top 10 finish in the 3rd WOD finishing 7th.
All in all a great competition for us.
Thank you to all of you who came out to Judge, Volunteer, and cheer on the team. I can tell you that the Canada West Regionals would not have been the success it was without all the help from CrossFit North Vancouver and Pure Athletics. I am proud of you all and thankful to have you as part of our community.
Everything gets back to normal at the gym tomorrow. See you on the training floor.
